Go Fish
The opening Go Fish restaurant in St. Helena, California, in 2006 by restaurateur Cindy Pawlcyn, marked her long-held dream of opening a classic West coast fish restaurant complete with a San Francisco-inspired raw bar. Menu items include (from the Raw Bar) Oysters, Gulf Prawns, Fresh Clams and Dungeness Crab. Main dish items include large or small dishes of exciting mouth watering fare such as Hawaiian Ahi Poke and Sweet Shrimp Macaroni and Cheese to Arctic Char and Prime New York Steak. Cindy chose a site for Go Fish on South Main Street 10 minutes from her St. Helena home. Along with her partner Sean Knight, she commissioned architect Howard Backen to redesign an existing structure as a sleek, roomy kitchen and dining room flanked by a young apple orchard and organic vegetable patch. Howard Backen is renown for such well known designs including Robert Redford’s Sundance and Harlan Estate Winery, Backen created his trademark airy, open comfort in the dining room, on the adjacent patio mulberry trees and awnings filter the sunlight. A fireplace takes the edge off the evening chill.
