About Santa Rosa California

Santa Rosa is located at only 55 miles north of San Francisco. It is the largest city in the Wine Country and the fifth largest city in the Bay Area. The Carrillo family was the first known settlement, under the law of Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo. During the Mexican period, Mrs. Carrillo constructed an adobe house “Rancho Cabeza de Santa Rosa” where now is downtown Santa Rosa. It became an incorporated city in 1867 and it started to grow very steadily. The city continue growing but in 1906 San Francisco Earthquake almost destroyed the city. After World War II, in 1945 the population grew on above 1,000 residents per year for the following 20 years. Nowadays in 2008, the population is about 159,000 people. It is represented by Democrat Pat Wiggins. This is known as the land of plenty, where the wine country and the farm country come together, rivers and redwood forests, rivers, lakes and ocean. This is one of the most desirable getaway destinations for tourists. Many tourist attractions and activities are available, such as: Luther Burbank Home and Gardens, Spring Lake Regional Park, wineries, museums, art, etc.
