When Henry E. Boyes was in search of a nice climate for Mrs. Boyes's health, visited this town and found out about the springs' medicinal properties. Mr. Boyes bought the lot in 1888, about five years later he constructed a resort hotel and some years later he sold it to retire. Today Sonoma Mission Inn in the Boyes Hot Springs are the main resort and tourists come to visit the wineries, enjoy the natural beauty of the place and explore historic sites.
